Immaculee Ilibagiza
Immaculée Ilibagiza is a member of the United Nations Development Program. She survived the savage Rwanda genocide and has devoted her life to sharing the importance of the virtues of understanding and forgiveness.
The Rwandan genocide left many children without homes and families. After surviving this tragic event, Immaculée vowed to raise money to help not only orphaned children in Rwanda, but all children of Africa to build better lives. This dream has become a reality with Immaculée’s Left to Tell Charitable Fund.
The Left to Tell Charitable Fund has already relocated more than 60 Rwandan orphans and has offered support and communication outlets for the past pains and guilt of the tragic genocide. “I hope that one day we can laugh and move on holding hands despite the past,” Immaculee says. “Life has a lot to offer and a lot of love to give.”
Immaculée continues to visit her homeland to spread this love. “Rwanda can be a paradise again, but it will take the love of the entire world to heal my homeland. And that’s as it should be, for what happened in Rwanda happened to us all—humanity was wounded by the genocide. The love of a single heart can make a world of difference. I believe that we can heal Rwanda—and our world—by healing one heart at a time.”
